Use Digital Grinds for a couple of hours each week to build up your skills, experience and confidence when it comes to Leaving Cert. Maths. Both our Higher Level and Ordinary Level packages use the same approach.
Here's a description of a typical Digital Grind from start to finish. There are 9 main elements:
The first time you load up Digital Grinds you can go through the introduction. This gives you a useful overview and a few tricks you can use to get the most out of your studies.
Once you load up your Digital Grinds you can access the prepare-your-mind section. In the same way an athlete warms-up before going on a run, you can warm-up your mind for optimal learning using the Mozart Effect. Want to know more about this? Then check out the "What is Prepare-Your-Mind?" tutorial.
Explore real-world applications of each topic. Learn how developing your Algebra skills can help you set up your own business or even design a computer game.
At the start you have the opportunity to first try out an exam question yourself before going through the solution. By doing this you will find out your exact sticking points which means you can fill in the gaps as we go through the solution together. The result of this is you come away more skilled at the end of a tutorial than before you started. Try this yourself and you will be amazed at the results!
Each tutorial is fully explained line-by-line and step-by-step, with all the tricks you need to know highlighted. Animations, graphics and the use of colours and interactive elements are all designed to make the learning process more interesting, more memorable for you and most importantly more fun for you. Keep in mind - The more fun you can have while studying, the faster you will learn.
You control the pace – how fast you move, what to skip past, what to focus in on. You can go over each point as many times as you feel you need to. Preview material, review it next month, focus on what is important to you, when you need it!
At any point in a question you can access the theory grinds section. These allow you take go deeper and really cement in your understanding!
At the end of each question you can then access the do-it-yourself section. Here you have the opportunity to see what you have actually learned through a series of interactive questions. Again these questions are fun to go through and examine some of the important fundamental ideas that make up solutions to various homework and exam questions on your course. Some of the DIY sections allow you to interactively answer past exam questions, line-by-line.
If you get a high enough accuracy and you pass the section you are given the opportunity to quickly review your notes or another power study tip and when you are finished with that you are REWARDED with a great Mystery Prize. Take a few minutes to relax, reminisce and have a short break, at this stage you’ve earned it. Your progress is updated at this stage.
That’s a typical 1 part grind. Just repeat the process whenever you feel you need that little bit of extra support.
At any stage you can also access special study-tip grinds such as how to accelerate your learning in Maths, become more confident for the Leaving Cert., discover your dominant learning style, how to go about developing a great exam technique and lots more besides. These extras will help you in maximising your return-on-investment for any subject or learning project you're working on.
The full version also includes a subscription to a private web-forum with more notes, ideas, links and a mastermind group of students and teachers.

“..the premium that society pays for skills is going to climb so my advice is to get a good formal education and then keep on learning. Acquire new interests and skills throughout your life.”
- Bill Gates, The Road Ahead
“I took pass Maths for the Leaving and I’m taking a year out now before college with the intention of studying Maths as part of my Degree next year, so I wanted to bring my ability up before then so as not to be thrown into the deep end come September, so to speak. I haven’t got a teacher or formal Maths class, and I found that using the book on its own, by yourself, isnt the most inspiring thing to do. The Digital Grinds software is really fantastic, because it’s like a huge part of the course explained EXTREMELY thoroughly in very quick time. I can use it in conjunction with my Maths book (which I bought out of wishful thinking at the start of 5th year) to really bring up my understanding of the sums/methods/maths. The constant reassurance really does make you feel accomplished and happy, and I honestly do use the disc for hours, for fun and for fulfillment. Im delighted!”
